The Christmasprom 2013!

Two days ago, the 5th of december, Eid ungdomsskule had a Christmasprom at Nordfjord hotel! <3 At the prom we ate dinner, talked, danced and had so much fun. I miss it already and I´m really looking forward to next years prom :) 11.30 at night, we crowned a prince, princess, queen, king, party animal, turtel doves etc. I wasn´t crowned as anything, but that´s ok because I didn´t even really want to, haha.

Cooperation with Mbala Basic school

A cooperation

Since the year 2000, our municipality, sogn og fjordane, have had a cooperation with Mbala in Zambia. In 2006, Mbala Basic school and Eid ungdomsskule started to school cooperate . The cooperation was ended the summer 2013, after 13 years.
mbala basic school
During the cooperation
  • They discussed conflictmanagement, democracy and how they could solve different problems and what each and one of them could do better.
  • Teachers from Eid ungdomsskule visited Mbala Basic School, and teachers from Mbala Basic School visited Eid ungdomsskule.
  • The travelling was really expensive, but luckily NORAD paid a lot for the cooperation and the travelling.
  • Travelling to Mbala took over 24 hours with night planes and bumpy bus rides, that weren't to pleasant.
  • Among others to visit Eid ungdomsskule, there was a chemistry teacher who nearly had nothing to teach his pupils with. When he saw our chemistry room and equipment he was shocked and didn't say to much, ha ha.

from the visit at the school

The vikings at Nordfjordeid

Viking graves at Nordfjordeid

 "Skjoratippen" and  "Rundehogen".

The picture at the top is Skjoratippen
with Rundehogen in the background, the second is still Skjoratippen  and the last is just Rundehogen, with Eid in the backround.
Rundehogen is 30 metres in diameter and around 4 metres in height.
Skjoratippen is 32 metres in diameter and around 4 metres in height. The largest of the five mounds at Myklebust Nordfjordeid, Rundhogjen, is lying on a flat plain by the fjord, visible from the highway. In 1903, the archeolog Anders Lorange found Rundehogen.

There was made a play about Rundehogen, called "Kong Audbjørn". Audbjørn is the vikingking who was burried at Rundehogen. The play Kong Audbjørn took place in Nordfjordeid at the age of the vikings. The play was about Kong Audbjørns everyday life. It dosen't sound exiting, but since he was a viking, and stuff. It was 3 shows. Two of them took place outside, and the last one in a school. It was quite entertaining.
My mom played the queen in this play, haha. She is at the right :)

That was just a little something about the vikings at nordfjordeid, a loooooong time ago :)

Nordfjordeid, my hometown

Today, I'm going to tell you something about my hometown, Nordfjordeid!

So, this is where I was borned and raised, haha.
There's about 3000 people living in Eid, but togheter with all the smaller villages that belongs to Eid, it's about 6000 people. Above you can see the fjord of Sogn, which is the longest fjord in Norway! At summer, I often go swimming in the fjord, and sometimes, when it's really cold in the winter, you can go iceskating on the fjord!

Malakoff Rockfestival
Malakoff Rockfestival, is a festival that's once in a year, every year since 2003 when it only was 650 people there, and this year, 2013, when it was 20 000 people. At the festival norwegian bands and artists play, sometimes theres bands and artists from sweeden, finland, denmark etc. People from all around Norway, are at this festival. At the left, it's me and my brother <3 (2010)

Eidsgata
Eidsgata is a street in Eid. It's a very cozy street. I have a favuorite café there, called Didriks. (The picture in the middle) They serve delicious food and drinks. It's also a very cozy café. Eidsgata is mostly old houses, and is where we mostly go shopping (also at moengården, our mall)

Two of many pictures I had on my phone of the fjordAt the left, it's me, with the fjord in the background and to the right, it's my friend Hilde, from a day last summer when we went padling on the fjord, because it was to cold to take a swim, haha :)

You'll probarly get to know more about Eid later, so bye! :)

My school (:

This is a little bit about my school :D

(300 pupils go to this school)

Our lockers
This is 9th and 10th years lockers, we mostly keep our books and shoes, and other valuable stuff in there.  My locker and all of the lockers that belongs to 8th grade are in another room, but is pretty similar to these.
The science room
This is one  of our science projects. We´re in a group of two, one of the cups are standing in a cabinets, and one stands in the window. The ones in the window are green and tiny, and the ones that´s in the cabinets are bigger but white.

Outside our school
We don´t have much to do outside, but i don´t mind because we´re just sitting on benches or standing in small groups, talking. But some like to use the soccer field, play basketball or other ball games. But mostly people are inside in the breaks. Inside we also have ping-pong tables, that´s pretty popular.
Mediateket
This is what we call mediateket, it´s where most of the students hang out in the breaks.  It´s benches and a couch to sit and talk, and there is ping-pong table and a enormous chess game on the floor. In mediateket it´s lots of paintings made by students that went here before us. (:

International cooperation
This is were we have our international cooperation classes, which is two of our three computer rooms. Every classroom at EUS also have ca. 5 computers on their classrooms.

This is me (:

Hey, my name is Mathea, I was born 11. april 2000 so I’m 13 years old, and live in Nordfjordeid, Norway. I´m in year 8 at Eid ungdomsskule(EUS) I have a lot of different interests, such as swimming and gymnastics. I also like to draw and paint, do my nails, watch youtubers, hang with friends and listening to music.

I speak Norwegian, English and a little bit French. I’m from Norway and ¼ from Shetland (:  Me and mom live together and my brother moved out in 2007. My dad and two other brothers live in Sweden with my step mom and step sister. I have one cat named Mira, she´s adorable.

I love travelling, cause I love to see new countries. I like to read, some of my favorite books is The Gone Series and The Hunger Games. I’ve read the whole Hunger Games Series, but I’m still waiting for the 6th book ( gone light) to come out in Norwegian.  I’m addicted to my Phone and Computer. I have a Samsung Galaxy s2, which I use mostly for instagram and snapchat, and I have a Macbook Pro, that I use for facebook, YouTube, watching movies and series (i love the walking dead), pictures, Skype and more.

So, this is me.
I'm wearing a bunad. which is Norways national suit, the norwegian flag besdide of me, and Nordfjordeid, my hometown, in the backround. This picture is from 17th of may (norways nationalday)
